Oscar Adler

(American, 1868-1932)

Oscar F. Adler was born and raised in Northern Massachusetts. He studied in Germany and then Paris during the late 1880s. He returned from Europe, highly influenced by the work of Daubigney, Millet and the French Impressionists. Although he adhered to the academic traditions revered by Munich School, by 1900 he was an academic Impressionist and maintained a studio in and around Clinton, Massachusetts, north of Worcester.

Adler's palette is light and bright and he is an adept draftsman who accurately utilizes precision in depths of field to recreate on canvas a sense of vast space.
