Geetesh

(Gary Gibson, American)

Born Gary Gibson, the watercolor artist is known simply as Geetesh, a Buddhist name given to him by prominent Asian monks. Geetesh was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Drawing and Graphic Design. He has extensively exhibited throughout the world and sold his watercolors at the institute St. Anthony and the Gallerie rue Mouffetard in France, the Haarlemmerport Museum and the Stedlijk Museum of Modern Art, the Gallery Kortekonning Strasse and Fodor Museum (Holland), the Jehangir Gallery and the Taj Gallery (Bombay, India) and the Gallery Beni, the Tokyo Museum and Toho Gallery (Japan), the Gallerie Frederika Berggade (Copenhagen, Denmark), in west coast galleries and in Hawaii (where he lived for many years).

Geetesh is a legitimate Buddhist Swami. His work has been illustrated in many Buddhist books including Osho times Internationa; The Way to Bodhidharma's Cave; Creative Arts, an art Exhibition by Swami Geetesh and The Art of Seeing, A Mystery School of Painting with Geetesh (1988), Sausalito, CA. In 1995, Geetesh moved to Japan from Hawaii.

Swami Geetesh creates special designs of natural, lyrical, occidental and oriental visions that evoke a peaceful self-awareness. His delicately balanced, small-sized, painted glimpses into the sum and substance of all that is natural are awe-inspiring. The man's gentle, giving ambiance speaks through his painted poetry.
