Roy Thompsen is a consummate wildlife painter who moved from Hingham, MA to Florida in 1990. Born in Brooklyn, New York, the artist lived in that state through the 1940s and graduated from Pratt Institute before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also completed a scholarship at the Arts Student League in New York and took additional art classes at Brooklyn College (Visual Arts) and Auburn Community College. His memberships have included the American Society of Artists, Nantucket Art Association, Robertson Center of the Arts, Binghampton N.Y.; Albany Art Association; Coconut Grove Art Association, Florida; South Shore Art Association.

Thompsen has held positions as the Art Editor at IBM, NY (1953-55); Art Director at McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., NY (1955-60); Corporate Art Director, AMF Corp, 1960-61; Advertising & Graphics Director, Creative Playthings, 1961-63; partner at Hungerford & Thompsen Advertising, 1964-69; Creative Director, Conklin Labs & Babee, Inc., NYC.

One-man exhibitions have been held at Study 8 Gallery, New Orleans, LA; Edgartown Art Gallery, MA; Bittersweet Gallery, Montauk, NY; Pierce Galleries, Inc., Hingham, MA; Alma Perlis Gallery, Allentown, PA; Gallery 19, Washington, DC; Island Gallery, N.C.

Thomas is a world traveler who sketches on sight. He is ranked as one of America's finest wild life painters because his detailing and draftsmanship is accurate and beautifully rendered.
