Dale Malner

Dale Malner was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and has a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) and a Bachelor’s from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. He has taught painting at Rensselaer County Council for the Arts in Troy, New York, and watercolor painting at Notre Dame. He has won “Best of show” at the Artist’s Association of Nantucket (1987) and at Gallery Aquinas in South Bend, Indiana; First Prize at the Midwest Museum of American Art in Elkhart, Indiana (1983) and more.  For references to this innovative expressionist see The Albany Review,  summer of 1987; Quill, Albany, NY; Juggler Magazine, vol. 39  #2 and vol. 38 #2, Notre Dame.

The intellectual, witty Dale Malner is known for his abstracted, humorous views of the human experience, and if his subjects upset people the artist knows he has made an impact with paint. Painting in watercolor, gouache, pen & ink, acrylic or oil, Malner likes most to paint scenes of artist’s studios, political satires or events and theatrical personalities in flux.
