T.M. Nicholas is considered the finest painter of his generation painting within iconic 150-year tradition of the Cape Ann School.  He has received over 100 awards and is a juried member of several prestigious art organizations.  His work is highly sought after and is held in many public and private collections.  

T.M. Nicholas was born in Rockport, MA in 1963.  His father, Thomas Nicholas, is a National Academician and well known painter.  TM learned from his father and also attended the Gloucester Academy of Art under John Terelak and the Montserrat School of Art.  His works are in the Peabody Essex Museum, the Cape Ann Historical Association, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the Dover Public Library and more.  

Nicholas is a member of the Rockport Art Association, the North Shore Arts Association, the Guild of Boston Artists, Whiskey Painters of America, Hudson Valley Artists, Allied Artists of America, Academic Artists Association, American Artists Professional League, and the New England Watercolor Society.\

Several featured articles on him have appeared in such prestigious magazines as Palette Talk, The American Artist, The Best of Oil Painting, Creative Oil Painting, Oil Highlights, Southwest Art, Art and Antiques, Plein Air Magazine, The Art Collector, New Hampshire Summer Colonies, Island Light - Monhegan Island and Visions in Granite.

Although he is following a long line of famous American painters he has established a unique style that has solidified his reputation among critics and collectors alike. Whether working on location in wild snow filled Vermont, sketching rural landscape, or depicting sublime seascapes, Nicholas captures the beauty of New England in rich textures and striking colors.
